**Position Overview: Sous Chef**

As the Sous Chef at Don Orange Tacos, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Executive Chef and ensuring the smooth operation of our kitchen. Your responsibilities will include executing the Executive Chef's requests and orders, overseeing day-to-day kitchen operations, managing the kitchen staff, and maintaining our commitment to quality.

**Duties and Responsibilities:**

- Execute the Executive Chef's requests and orders promptly and accurately.

- Demonstrate proficiency in various kitchen positions and provide assistance to the kitchen staff when needed.

- Oversee and execute the production of our menu items, ensuring consistency and quality.

- Maintain a thorough understanding of work safety and emergency procedures.

- Expedite orders efficiently to ensure a smooth flow in the kitchen.

- Adhere to our recipes and plating guidelines to deliver visually appealing and delicious dishes.

- Maintain the security and organization of our kitchen storage areas.

- Conduct regular checks to ensure food quality, freshness, and completion of specials.

- Collaborate with the Executive Chef in creating and executing daily specials.

- Assist in implementing closing duties and ensure all tasks are completed by the kitchen staff.

- Ensure all food meets our high-quality standards and train the staff accordingly.

- Possess strong math and communication skills for various kitchen-related tasks.

- Work closely with the kitchen staff to ensure they perform their jobs in line with our guidelines.

- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in the kitchen, following health department guidelines.

- Attend management and team meetings as scheduled.

- Assist with daily ordering and coordination with suppliers.

- Assist with weekly scheduling of the kitchen staff.

- Monitor the kitchen crew to prevent any accidents or breakages.

- Inspire and motivate the kitchen staff to maintain a positive work environment.

**Qualifications/Primary Job Requirements:**

- Minimum of 3 years of professional culinary experience in a similar environment.

- Experience working in a vibrant and fast-paced restaurant is preferred.

- Familiarity with Mexican cuisine and its traditional cooking techniques is a plus.

- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.

- Ability to work well under pressure and adapt to changes.

- Excellent knife skills and knowledge of kitchen equipment.

- Basic math and communication skills.

- Food handling certification and knowledge of food safety regulations.

- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
