A Dispatcher, or Communications Dispatcher, answers and responds to any emergency or non-emergency calls to provide assistance or important information. Their main duties include logging each call, providing answers to questions by retrieving information from the necessary departments and supervising the fleet and routes to prioritize and organize their schedules.
Details of the responsibilities are:
Answer all incoming phone calls by drivers and provide them proper solutions to resolve the issue on hand efficiently and effectively.
Help drivers regarding their trip, loading/unloading, arrival departure times, shift start/end times and other load related issues/concerns.
Track drivers’ activity in Amazon Relay portal and Motive portal to ensure drivers are on time to their stops and have adequate number of HOS to complete the trip. If driver is running late communicate the delay with Regional Operations Center (ROC) and notate the reason in Relay portal.
Track drivers time of arrival and departure, if driver do not arrive on their stop on time communicate with driver and find out the reason, then communicate the delay to ROC and notate it in Amazon Relay portal. If driver is delayed at Amazon facility and not departed on a scheduled departure time, escalate this, and engage a supervisor to take necessary actions.
Ensure that drivers do not receive HOS violations by checking Motive Portal daily and
that all unidentified time is cleaned up daily, no exceptions.
Document load and/or stop cancellation and communicate it to the supervisor.
Assign trucks to drivers on daily bases. Keep record of truck assignments for 7 days. Record and report any change in truck assignment.
Track the tractor that driver is operating to identify the error codes and communicate the error codes with driver, AFP, DSS and ROC. This is very important and will help resolve issue in timely manner and keep the freight moving.
Help driver with any mechanical issues or breakdowns occur to tractor or trailer. Contact DSS to report mechanical issues and keep record of the communication for future reference and record keeping purposes.
Be the eyes and ears of AFPs to make sure their operation is running smoothly.
